A Pre-Taste of Young Euro Classic

Shorten the waiting time until our anniversary edition with two excellent pre-tastes of Young Euro Classic: on their 2024 European tours, the two American ensembles, the Curtis On Tour Piano Quartet and the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, perform in Berlin.

Next week already they come to the Konzerthaus Berlin: the Piano Quartet of Curtis on Tour, the global touring initiative of the Curtis Institute of Music, initiated by Nina von Maltzahn. Only four percent of all applicants are accepted by this exclusive music academy in Philadelphia, USA, which trains particularly talented young musicians to win audience hearts at the highest artistic level. On May 31, you will have the chance to hear four fabulous young Curtis alumnae live in concert!

The violinist Shanshan Yao, the violist Haesue Lee, the cellist Jean Kim and the pianist Pallavi Mahidhara present not only the romantic trio for violin, cello and piano “Saans” by the Indian-American composer Reena Esmail, but also Felix Mendelssohn’s enchanting Piano Quartet No. 1 in C-minor. They will end the evening with Antonín Dvořák’s ingenious Piano Quartet No. 2 in E-flat-major.

East Coast excellence: Where would the festival of the world’s best youth orchestras be if it didn’t find excellence everywhere to present in Berlin?
